No — you do not need a referral to book privately. If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician.

Initial appointments are longer sessions that allow time to understand what has brought you to therapy, the challenges you may be facing, and what you are hoping for moving forward. There is no expectation to share everything immediately — therapy moves at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
